Of newer вЂњrefreshesвЂќ of older games, Sorry Sliders, while not really feeling like Sorry, is one of my favorites. Sorry Sliders even teaches basic strategy to younger kids, as they have to decide which scoring pawn to assign points to each turn. You can get a games started within a couple minutes of opening the box. The rules are easy to learn, easy to teach, and very quick to go through. You can double up these tracks for longer lead-ins, or even put all four together to really test your pushing skills. The tracks that pawns are pushed down can be oriented in different ways, giving even more replayability. There is even a board with danger dots, where if you end up on one, your pawn is removed! Another has that hole send a pawn back to start. One has a hole in the center (like Crokinole) that sends one of your scoring pawns to Home for free. I really like that the game comes with four different scoring sections. Sorry Sliders is a great, quick game to play with kids, while still being fun for adults. One extra problem, if you have to remove a roller pawn due tt its being knocked off the board/into a sorry pit, one of your scoring pawns that isnвЂ™t Home goes back to start.

The first person to get all of their pawns Home, wins. You can only move a given scoring pawn once per turn, and it moves a number of spots equal to one of your roller pawns. Your overall goal is to get all of your scoring pawns to the Home area. This scoring will be based on the scoring area youвЂ™re using (there are four that come with the game). Players alternate, pushing one pawn at a time.ДЄfter all players have played all four pawns, scoring begins. If your pawn falls over or lands in a corner (a sorry pit), it is removed from the board. On your turn, you push one of your roller pawns, releasing it before the foul line, with a goal of landing it on the scoring section. There is a track (about a foot long) that leads into a middle scoring area. You have four roller pawns (plastic pawns with a ball bearing inside the base that slides along the board). Sorry Sliders is more like shuffleboard than Crokinole, but involves many of the same ideas. Sorry Sliders is NOT Sorry, itвЂ™s its own game, using pawns that resemble Sorry, with a scoring mechanic to get your pawns вЂњhomeвЂќ. ItвЂ™s become one of my favorite games to play with kids and people looking for a quick, fun, dexterity game fix. Thankfully, a member of a game group I attended was smart enough to pick it up and introduce me to it. An updated Sorry game didnвЂ™t appeal to me. Even if youвЂ™ve never played the board game Sorry!, you should have no trouble figuring out the gameplay from the instructions included.When I first saw this game on a store shelf, I didnвЂ™t give it a second look. The documentation is exceptionally thorough, listing all the various rules and cards and explaining the basic moves of the game. Recommended: P150 or higher, 2 MB SVGA card, 28.8 baud modem Documentation Minimum: P100 or higher, Win95, 16 MB RAM, 50 MB hard drive space, 4X CD-ROM drive, 1 MB SVGA video card, SoundBlaster compatible sound card The other sounds are nothing fancy, just the shuffling of cards and some simple sound effects to accompany the pawn animations. Fortunately, the dialogue can be shut off. Until that point, though, I did enjoy them and even found some of the barbs lobbed at the other pawns to be quite funny. This was also an option I turned off after several games, as I found the voiceovers becoming repetitious and they began to wear on my nerves. The pawns quip at each other as gameplay ensues, taunting the other pieces and grumbling when things arenвЂ™t going their way.

There are five new cards included with these rules: Buddy allows you to move a pawn to a square next to the nearest pawn in either direction, Bully switches places with the nearest opponent in either direction and bumps it back to Start, Punish prevents any pawn from moving for one turn, Happy protects one pawn from attacks for a turn, and Way Sorry! is essentially the same as the Sorry! card, only the player moves all his or her pawns from Start instead of just one, switching them with the opponentsвЂ™ pawns on the playing board and knocking them back to Start. Way Sorry! is a new way to play the game with additional cards, and is a good deal more cutthroat. The traditional rules are taken straight from the board game (and I am going to make the assumption that nearly everyone has played this game at one point or another) and can be played against either the computer or human opponents in either teams or individually.

They have included several different ways to play the game, all of which include the option to play over the Internet.

In the updated version for the PC, Hasbro has added personality to the pawns, complete with voices and animations.
